We install tank heaters on our cases, here in southern wis. WE put on atleast a 1500 watt if not a 2500 watt heater to get the big girls warmed up to use. I install it by screwing a fitting into the drain on the sided of the block and then it can be hooked up to the top of the water pump. On most of the 1030 there is a receased hex drive plug there. Take it out and put a fitting there. Then install tank heater according to heater's manufactures specs. 830 and 930 are a little differnt to hook up on the top side. We have 3 1030 2 930 and a 830 with a another 1030 on the way. These we use also a restore project i have here for going to shows with is a 500 standard diesel and a 400 standard diesel.

the freeze plugs are only in the heads, between the heads so it's near impossible to install a heater there.

The only case offered 1030 heater was a approx 4 inch long one that screwed into a hex head plug on the right side of the block. Near the drain cock under the intake plenum. I worked on my 1030 case to remove this plug, but cannot. I have the heater, but cant install it. I am afraid to force the plug's removal. I will wait till spring, need the tractor every day to move hay.

I have a 730 that has the orginal frost plug heater I think on the right side about the center of the block the cord is missing so it doesnt work but that is the orginal. I have an inline heater that is in the heater hose line on the left side of the engine that works well they can be bought at most farm stores. Hope this helps
