430 Triple Range

I recently purchased a 430D. The old tractor does not say triple range on the old deals but the tractor has a hi-lo shifter on the right that can be pulled further to the right then shifted up. I presume that the gear should be either a higher or lower range than the Hi-Lo (possibly a triple range?). The problem is that the only thing that happens when I shift it there is that the governor kicks in a little but the tractor does not pull its self. The tractor does fine in the Hi-Lo. Do I have a gear out? Is it hard to fix?

It could be that the front (triple-range) transmission cover has been taken off and put back on with the forks out of position. It is easy to take the cover off and see if the forks are placed in the correct slots. If they are not it could cause the tractor to be in neutral when it is in low range. If that is all that is wrong you have a minor problem that can be fixed in 10 minutes.

Ron was right ...Shifting fork out of place. I Now have triple range...even though the tractor does not triple range anywhere.

if it has the tripple range then it would have up is H and down is drive then you pull out and up for Lo. if theres nothing there then i think you have duel range. our 430 has duel range with shuttle tranny. if it only has H and L then its probly just a duel range

Zach, It lets me pull the lever out and up where it engages but does do anything. Does the dual range let you pull the lever out to the right and up. I hope I do not have triple range with a gear out, but it does let me pull the lever out and up into a slot. Thanks,
M Bush
