Next question on case 430: Upon getting my 430 home to Illinois from Texas I noticed a lot of blue smoke, especially after the tractor sits a couple of days. The tractor starts very well down to 15 degrees and does not require starting fluid. My question is this: If compression was low and rings were bad, would the tractor start well, could the smoke be valve guides/seals/diesel. Do I possibly need new rings/overhaul. I have not had the tractor long enough to check oil consumption.

Run it for a while cover the radiator about 3/4 of the way off. This way it will run up to temp those little engs will not run warm enough unless you are working them. So if you havent worked it hard enough yet i wouldnt worry to much i have seen lots of them smoke untill they get warm. If it still smokes have the injectors checked first good luck Thad.

It could be air filter inj. timing or guides.

I will service the air filter. Are the guides easy to change? Anything I can do to check the injection timimg.
