I went back to the L and checked the cab. It is not a Case cab according to the picture. Either it is an aftermarket cab or the farmer had a lot of time on his hands because this cab is pretty fancy for its time. Also, the gas tank is rusted through, the engine is stuck, magneto is missing, the back left rim is rusted through, and the tractor is missing the belt pulley. About the only good thing is the fenders are dent free and straight. Also found a wrench that goes on the nut on the end of the axle. Despite all of the negatives, I am going to restore this tractor. Might take awhile but I will.

Glad to hear it. You may want to buy a better/running tractor to use your parts on. Sounds like a bit of a $$$ pit. I myself can find good parts tractors in ther L or LA line too much. They come in real rough.

I have thought about getting another L in better condition. However, this tractor is setting on an old farm 3 miles south of us that we bought 21 years ago. Today with our modern tractors, we work the same soil on that farm the L worked many years ago. We know the name of the guy who bought it, owned it, and operated it. What I am trying say is that this tractor is part of our local history that is why I am going to sink some money into it. I look forward coming back to this board once I start restoring the L. Have a Merry Christmas!!

For me that is part of what the old tractor hobby is about, keeping local history alive.

I think I am really lucky to have the 1936 C Case that my father bought new. I know where it has worked and what it has done. It is almost part of the family and family members, who regard my other old tractors as a pile of old junk, are interested in the Model C

Bob,
i am a rookie to a 1937 case model c. It has been in my wifes family barn in southern california since the early 50's and has not ran. the family bought it new and used it in their orange groves. well the land was sold to build two schools and the tractor has not ran since i am trying to get it running and then i want to restore it. do you have any info on where to get parts for it? the tractor is 100% complete but needs a tune up if thats what it should be called. i am a rookie to farm tractors being raised in los angeles county but i am facinated by old iron! help me out if you can.

thanks,
Kyle the rookie tractor restorer
