I did get a wiring diagram from a case 311 manual. The wiring appears to be correct. The ign. switch has been replaced (key switch w/start mode & also has a accessory terminal). I do not know if there could be anything at that point that would cause the present prob. but would not think it would. It would appear that the elec. circuit is not being completed through the volt. reg. ??? since The gen. shows 6 plus volts output, only when jumper wire is used from volt. reg. gen/arm terminal to batt. terminal, and witout jumper wire only shows gen. output of less than 1 volt Thank You, C.D. have you full feilded the generator -- sounds like the regulator to me, but ground the feild and see if it shows a charge then. is that a 2 0r 3 brush generator?

Klyde, The orig. manual states 3 brush non adj. gen. Yes, I field to ground off gen. & no imp. in charge rate. This is the 3rd new reg. that I have tried and still no charge, unless I jump reg. terminals from batt. to gen. terminals. It does appear that circuit is not completing, but I am puzzled. Could there be something unique about the orig, reg.??? Last alternative,I went to local tractor boneyard and got a orig. old reg. off a junk 311, filed points in reg. installed, & same result= no charge?? Thank You, C.D. Zook

is the regulator grounded good. --- full feilded and jumped at the regulator bat and arm terminals the ampmeter should be showing about 30 amps charge.
