I've been having trouble locating engine parts for the overhaul. The last quote I got was $1500.00 just for the parts - any ideas for who or where to get any?

When ordering parts make sure you know the block number and the head numbers. There are two different heads numbers which require different head gaskets. If my memory is correct there are also two different sleeve measurements. I have two 500's on the auction that if they don't sell I hope to make one good one out of the two.Since the 500, 600, and the 900 take the same sleeves you would think there would be a bigger demand and competion for them. Hmmmmm m wonder if there any money in piston/sleeve sets anymore. I might be in the wrong business

It's a diesel. I was also wonder if anyone would happen to know if it is supposed to be red or two-tone orange. I have seen it both ways. Thank you for your help and suggestions

Karl, if you are speaking of the 500 that was made over from the LA its Flambeau Red. The 53 model had black hood stripes and the 54 had the yellow ones.

Thanks.

The tractor you are working on is it gas or diesel? TISCO or Herschel or A+I and others that have kits or short blocks. Small repair shops to dealers can get them.
