I'm curious about how Case numbered their tractors per example the 1957 Case 600. The serial number starts at 8100001. There were suppose to be 1515 diesels made, 350 LPS, and 90 industrails for a total of 1,955 tractors. So if they increase one number per tractor then the last one should have serial number 8101956. I have seen a 600 with serial number 8102778 so that blowed my theory about one number increase per tractor. Any one have any ideas on this??

Second does anyone have the address to Case Archeives where we can send serial number in and get a card back. I have a 1957 Case 900 and there were 750 of them built so now I'm curious as to where it fits in.
Thanks in advance

Caseman-

It looks to me like when they went to the 8 digit serial number system ('54-'55?) that Case assigned blocks of numbers for that year and their entire production of all models was in that range. I know for example that all of 1956 prodution had the 808XXXX block. Your 1957 600 has the 810XXXX block serial number. They seemed to follow this system up through the end of the 70 series, don't know about after that. So short answer is I don't think you could know which of the 1515 diesel 600s yours is just by looking at the serial number. You would need access to all the build data for that year, like Mike suggests about the build cards.

Caseman-d,

I just got copies of the build sheets for two of my Case SCs and for my DC-3 from the Case Corporation.

They told me that they don't have any records on file from the war years- so I couldn't get build cards on my '45 SC or the '45 engine.

The cost for the research of the build card is $5.00 plus $2.00 per copy if you want them to make a Xerox and mail it to you for a total of $9.00 ea.

(They will research the serial number and e-mail you to verify that they have the card on file before you have to pay.)

The mailing address for payment is as follows:

Case Corporation 700 State St. Racine, WI 53404 Attn: Rich Tworek
e-mail: (nospam)rich.tworek@cnh.com

Remove the(nospam) for Rich's e-mail address. I wouldn't want him to get a bunch of junk mail at work because I posted his address here...

Hope this helps you. I was very thankful to find out the Company offered this service to us collectors. Thank you, Rich!

Regards, -Schotte

Thanks from me as well. I'll try this for my DC.
