I've seen a bunch of posts on this site regarding the filter locations on the transmission. I have no filter in front of the radiator. My washable filter is on the right side and the valves are on the left. I've seen comments that the filter is on the same side as the valves and there is a filter in front of the radiator. Did they make these two different ways?

My washable filter is damaged on one end - looks like it was trimmed wrong from the factory. Will this affect operation of the Case-O-Matic if there is leakage at the base of the filter?

Thanks,

I have the 801B diesel with Case-O-Matic. When you say 'washable filter', do you mean the hard plastic type tube about 2" diam X 3" long that resides behind the heavy, round, 4 bolt cast iron cover on the right side of the tractor? If the ends are not parallel, then replace it. Oil will pass thru without being filtered. I just got a new, improved one from the dealer, along with the two O rings. The cost was $12. Sorry, I don't have the part #s at hand.
After cleaning, the old filter looked like a strainer; I could see dozens of holes when held up to the sun. The new one has no visable holes. Neither the repair manual nor operator's manual show any other seals besides the two O rings. While at the dealer's, order the operator's manual.
The diesel one is #9-423. 192 pages for $20. Lots of good info.

Thanks. Any comment about the filter in front of the radiator and on the left side?
Thanks again,
