What does putting a straight pipe on a diesel do? I don't do any heavy work with it, was just curious if it would hurt anything.

My father and uncle ran straight pipes on their 830 diesels for about five years in the 70's. We had to replace every single head on them. They all cracked because they do not retain the heat like a good muffler does. You can run a straight pipe but you might have repair expenses ahead. (Just my experiences.)

It won't hurt the tractor but it will hurt you. When you get about 40 everyone will start mumbling. If you put a straight pipe on it wear good ear protection.

It makes the smoke go straight up. It don't hurt a thing unless it rains.

It makes the smoke go up-I like that. As far as rain goes, I have an extensive inventory of coffee cans. Thanks

It will hurt your ears! Ask my neighbor, if he can hear you!
