Can anyone recommend a Case tractor that would work well for baling hay. I'd be looking for something older. I don't know how many HP a 530 has but I'm guessing that maybe one of these would do the job. The job would be to run a PTO baler and pull a wagon at the same time. The tractor would have to have a wide front end and power steering. I have read that it's recommended to have 40 HP or more.
Any recommendations?

A lot depends on the type of terrain you are working. If its level the 530 will work fine. If its hilly you could have some problems. Not so much going up, its coming down that might pose problems. Take it from someone who farmed on hills it ain't fun went they start pushing. We used a 300 with fluid and weights and worked around the limitations. Was much nicer with the 730CK.

I've got a 1210 and 1410 that do a great job. Tractors are affordable, reliable, and economical to operate. I like the 1210 better. I've had 990's and 885's but like the hydraulics independent of the PTO (like on the 1210 and 1410). Am in the process of changing over to Fords because of common replacement parts and parts cost. Still like my 1210 best of all, though.

I've baled behind many tractors. An 830 Case-o-Matic beats them all!
