I was thinking of getting a 2090 powershift for loader and haying work. They seem to be a good buy compared to others like green iron. Any thoughts on that? Drove a 1370 once and the powershift seemed pretty handy. And I understand the 90 series have a lot quieter cab. Thanks;

We have several 1070's which are the same size as a 2090 (108 hp). Never had a problem with the powershift in the 1070 but had a 1270 shear off the mounting bolts, of course it has more horse and pulls a whole lot more. I would suggest the 2090 to you just cause they are relatively cheap and really are trouble free. Those powershift's are hard to screw up really.

I had one for about 4 yrs that I used for haying and general farm stuff, it had a loader I could have bought with it (and should have). Powershifts always scared me. There are a couple of guys I have seen post from time to time that claim good prices on repairs but my option for reliable repair (within several hundred miles) is the dealer. Going rate is $3000 for clutches, $6000 complete (plus major components). Finally just couldn't stand the worry. Only other complaint I had was it really liked fuel. Just don't need a 500 cubic inch 6 cyl diesel for haying around here. I prefer a turbo 4 cyl for that. Then you only use the boost and extra fuel when you need it. Going to a turbo 4 at 86 hp saw no drop in handling anything I own and cut my diesel fuel bill by almost 800 gallons per year.

2090 is a good tractor. if you dont mind running a little less rpm cause of horse power the 2290 is a much better tractor and a little more reliable. will use a little more
