We have an 830 also. We have a similiar setup- except that the hose going back into the housing has a male end on it ,so you can remove it from the outlet when you're not using the loader. We have a genuine Case loader on it, with single acting lift cyls.

The return line wouldn't be factory but is not uncommon.
An example of a one way hydraulic tool would be the Shaver Post Driver. They are hydraulic power up and free-fall down. On the free-fall down they dump the oil right back into the reservoir.

The one plumbed back into the housing was most likely used on a one way cylinder. My 1952 SC is set up this way.

David; Yes, all 4 hoses should have the female ends; preferably the old style CASE ends which are still available, part # A28542. Good luck John
