I just bought a 1965 430 diesel and it was down in Florida. The guy had a dinky battery because he didn't need much to start it. I brought it home to Maryland where its a little bit colder and thought I should put a bigger battery in it but I wasn't sure if its 12 volt or not. I have a thousand other questions as well and need to buy a good shop manual. Which manual is the best. Also, How do you know if the manifold heater is working?

My uncle had a 530 with two six's wired together.
Cranked up just like a 12 volt. Good luck and don't get zapped.

Craig; Yes it is 12V. Two 12's hooked in parallel work best. To check the manifold heater, hold it on for 30 seconds and it should feel hot. Don't use either in that 430, ever. Case service manuals are the best; the number is 9-75302. Good luck John.
