I have the opportunity to buy a 1952 Case VAC for $750 and my '49 Farmall H. The Case has new tires all around and has been gone through pretty thoroughly. It started easily and ran well (till it ran out of gas) with no smoke. The grill is pretty rough, but the rest of the sheet metal is OK. My Farmall needs new tires all around, is hand crank only and is currently not running, due to an undiagnosed ignition system problem (I think it is a bad rotor cap). Both tractors are in East Tennessee. Should I go for it? Thanks in advance for your advice.

The Case won't have the power of the "H". It's a one plow machine basically while the "H" is a two plough!

I pull 2-14" with my VAC.
I have always been told that a 3-point is worth about $1,000.

I think you are paying too much. I figure the tires are worth no more than $400. I don't think the Case is worth $350 more than the Farmall.

It's a little hard to compare the two tractors. If this Case is a 52 it would be a VAC-13 or 14. It should have an Eagle hitch on it. Depends on what you want to use it for. Good Luck

Hi Bama Red,

I don't know what you're hoping to get out of your Farmall H- but here's a link to a discussion earlier in the week where folks were talking about what they gave for VACs.

If you're paying that amount and trading in a larger tractor- my gut feeling is you're definitely paying for those new tires.

Let us know how you make out, -Schotte
