Hi there, if you have a cut out on the hood under the fuel tank, you have a newer hood, 1952 to the end of production, the 1951 and older hood has the straight edge along the bottom of the hood. hope this will help you, Caseman44 or Harold

Mike,

The new D series hood with the oval cut-out was utilized at Tractor No. 5524758 (1951).

My '49 DC-3 hood is bent right where your '51 has that notch cut out... so I guess they knew what they were doing!

Mike,
Mike is correct, Don L has reman metal battery covers. I bought one. Very nice. Definitely worth the $75 bucks cause I don't have to do anything with it except put it on. Don also has reman PTO shields for $55. Those are nice also.
Later,
Steve Moeller
