I have two 1070's and a 1270 that seem to "chatter" while in use. They seem to do it while above 1200 RPM and more likely in a higher gear. The 1270 is mainly used on a silage blower and will do it almost continously when throttled up. I would appreciate any help so as I can get them fixed before planting season.

There's an adjustment you can make on the injector pump to stop this. But I don't know exactly what it is. Someone on here should know, I believe it's just a screw on the governow but you have to remove the end cap to get at it. You may have to find an injection guy.

Dad used to have a 1070 that did the same thing. It seems like the cab would shake just a little bit on the rubber cab mounts when going down the road and cause the throttle linkage to move. Just an idea.

That is what someone else said but the 1270 has a cable linkage instead of a rod linkage so the cab movement wouldn't bother it. And the 1270 will do it while stationary on the blower. They all will "chatter" for a bit then stop then do it again. Thought it might be the injection pumps going bad but one was just rebuilt 2 years ago so I don't think that is it. Hopefully it is just out of time, will have to check that Monday. Hopefully someone else has some other ideas. Thanks for your help.

I would say piston slap. Have you tried reving the engine up without a load?

They all tend to do it while going down the road in 4th Gear. Every now and then they will do it in the field.

No this isn't a normal noise, it actually does change the rpm level, however the later models do have a nice sound to them don't they! Especially the turbo models.
