I have a 68 or 69 case 930 CK that I recently bought. Runs well but has started to overheight and blow out water thru overflow. First changed thermostats and checked belt tension. It doesn't overheat while idling but does after running under load. Water pump seems to be functioning. Can anybody suggest where to start looking. No water in oil or opposite.

Before you pull things apart there is a really easy way to check for compression leaks into the engine. Replace the overflow hose with a good one that will reach down to the ground. Fill the radiator full and make sure the radiator cap is on good. Place the overflow hose to the bottom of a clear glass jar that is half full of water. Start the engine and warm it up good. You might have to work it some. Watch for air bubbles in the jar. Keep in mind that the overflow hose has air in it to start with. When my 930 cracked a head I would get a small air bubble about every 5 seconds after it was warmed up good. Good Luck!

Bad head gasket will do the same thing.

Thanks for the info. One quick question as I was starting to remove the radiator I noticed that the cap is new after market but only a 7lb cap, is this enough for this system?

Recommend you start by pulling the radiator and taking it to a radiator shop for an inspection. They may be able to boil it out or do a rod out on it. After they do the clean-up and repair, flush your block out good and refill with 50-50 mix. Most of these over-heating problems are caused by people using stop leak products instead of pulling the radiator and having it repair correctly - - people want to save a nickel and they wind up spending big bucks.

Hi John, how's your radiator core? i'd start there maybe with a re-core or at least a good flushing!!! then if it still does it??? i'd have to say look your heads over for cracks.
