I've got a case 400 that I puchased at an auction in parts. I gave the engine an overhaul and put in a clutch then found out the hyd. don't work. I like to start simple on these things so here we go.... I drained the fluid, cleaned the filter, and flushed the system. No go at this point. Then I removed the hyd. fittings on the valve heads and BINGO (so I thought) I found one spring broken and another one reversed. So I turn one spring around and replace one. Now I've got movement but no pressure. When I plugged a gauge in it read about 300 psi. Now I start to think pressure relief valve.. So I take the cap off and it's the old single spring style, but BINGO AGAIN the spring has been ground off and made shorter. I wondered if I added shims if would see any pressure difference and single out that as the problem. Well I added washers untill I could add no more and no change in pressure not even a little. Now I try to decide maybe a bad relief valve or the way it looks somebody liked playing with springs. I then pulled each of the valve heads off and things actually looked o.k. The last things I could think of were a plugged inlet screen, broken or missing rubber seals to the pump or a worn pump. At this point I figured I've gone this far and It's soo easy to look and see that I pulled the pump off the resivior. Seals looked good, screen looked good, but when I split the pump I couldn't believe what I found. The book states no more than 0.00015-0.00025 clearance I had 1/8" - 3/16" on the drive gear and it wore .004 - .006 into the pump surface below the pump body, plus worn shafts with lots of play and shot needle bearings. So, can I get a rebuilt pump, or can I get parts to rebuild this pump, or is a good used pump the only way? Also what other models used the same pump 700? 800?

Sorry for the long post but thaks for taking the time to look at it. If you know a good source for parts please drop me an e-mail

The pumps on the 400s are usually rebuildably if the housing is scoured you can machine it,check the body it may be cracked.Case had A repair kit back in '60s for them. The 700,800,730 and830 were all the same pumps just improved in the '30 series. They had replaceable sides in gear housing, your heads as well as other parts will all fit but would be better to find ,30 series to rebuild. (730-830) Dale in Tx.

Try this number For Don 507-433-0073 in the AM or better yet Email him at manifold@smig.net. If you have that much clearance then replace the pump, sounds like a lot of parts are bad. Just my thought.

T,
I'm not positive but I think most of the B series had the same hydraulic pump. I'm sure if I'm not right I'll be corrected. You might try Don Livingston in MN for parts. I know he can't post his number and I have misplaced it so maybe some one eles might have it or try the classified ads.

Since you were asking about the 700 and 800 I figured yours was also a B serires. Try the D series up to the 900. Don should know.
