We have a 400 diesel that will run and idle but after a few hundred feet it acts like it is running out of fuel. Sometimes it dies sometimes it regains power. Not sure what its deal is, thinking of selling it since we hardly ever use her anymore. What is one worth, has narrow front, ok shape and we have another one with wide front for parts. Anyone willing to come to South Bend, IN and interested just email. Am considering selling but not quite sure yet.

Hellow Shane, I also had a little problem simmilar to yours. After much filter changing and adding a electric fuel pump I finaly found that the fuel tank was full of old rust and crud. I spent a cupple of days cleaning the old girl up and haven't had a problem since. As a matter of fact I haven't even reconected the vaine pump on the main pump yet and I have been baileing all summer. Like every one else I would like to talk to you about some parts. But I think you might be better served to work on yours and get the diesel running.

Hey Shane
I live in Chesterton, IN. I might be interested also. Have 2) 830 narrow front and might want to put that wide front on if it fits. Let me know.

Shane,

I would be interested in the 400 if you are wanting to sell. We have two already (1 diesel, 1 Gas). The gas is mainly for parts. They're a great little tractor.
I'm from Winamac, which is not far from you.
Keep me in the loop.
Thanks

I'm interested in it also or maybe the parts tractor you have. I have a motor to put in it just need good sheet metal. We need more CASE tractors down here in Florida to work on those Deeres and IHs.

Shane; I had the same problem with my 700 diesel once and it turned out to be water in the air cleaner that had frozen and choked off the air supply. Gene

My girl friend goes to Indiana State there in Terre Haute. Was just there last weekend. I am not sure what it needs or what we want for it. Will keep you all posted when we decide. Thanks. Oh, Terre Haute is about 4 hours away from me.

I have had a few tractors like that. I replaced the filters and was all it took. Those rotary style injection pumps need top quailty diesel fuel or a additive to keep them in long service. It is a very pump to replace. Don L.

Does you know how many filters this thing has? I looked and it seems to have 3 of them. Those fuel lines run all over the place. It pumps fuel out of the lifter pump fine but after that it is hard to tell.

It does have 3 filters. the first two are the only ones that ever gave me problems. You may see that one of the filters is a fine brass looking thing, these can be cleaned and reused. The cloth ones are the ones go in the trash. Does your fuel pressure gauge work? I would be surprised if it did not.

I can't remember if the fuel pressure gauge works or not. The tractor wasn't in the greatest shape when we bought it years ago. Mechanically it all worked but am not sure about the gauges. It seems to me that you can't really see the needles or numbers due to moisture and grime behind the glass. I will check and post my findings. Thanks for the thought and interest.

Shane, I wish I lived closer. Gas or diesel? Either way it doesn't sound serious, sounds like it is starving for fuel for one reason or another. If I lived closer, I would tell you it sounds real serious and to sell it. John
