Most likely some or all of the six bolts that hold clutch packs C-2, C-3 together are broken inside the powershift. Sometimes the bearings at the rear of the powershift failed allowing the distrubuter hub to leak. The first is usually the failure, but the two are located beside each other so you will inspect both. Early tractors used 3/8 bolts, later 1/2 bolts.

If it is the bolts then you can drill and tap the 3/8 holes to 1/2. We did this on our 1270. We also put in an updated clutch pack out of a 94 series tractor. I suggest making the bolts bigger at least.

Hubs can be drilled to 7/16", but not enough room for 1/2" bolts. Make sure C1 C2 piston carrier is splined as earlier ones were not.

Is there only enough room for 7/16? I was thinking it was 1/2. I am not sure now. Thanks for the updated info if you are correct.
