Just purchased a case 2670, on depressing the clutch the engine stalls every time. It will drive forward if knocked into gear without the use of the clutch. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Motor will also stall in 2nd or 3rd. Locate C1&C3 pilot spools at right rear corner of control valve. remove plugs with 7/8 socket, springs & screw a 10-24 bolt into end of spools & remove. lightly polish and clean the spool that was stuck until it moves freely in it's bore.

Sounds like your problem is a sticky valve in the main control valve. They get slugish in cold weather but should work fine in cold weather. Take the valve and clean real well and see what happins.

Scott is right about the real cold. Don't knock that in gear, not good. The power shift has adjustments on the trans. cover that should take care of the problem . It can be done by "feel" by someone who has experience, otherwise the adjustments are made using a series of guages. Hope this helps John

If I may cut in. How's about push in clutch and nothing happens (1070). Idled 10 minutes to warm up. Looked at gauges, trans pressure was in red, trans temp was green. Shut it off and walked away.It has never acted up before. Looked at the bubbles and can't tell if it's full or not. What would be your guess?

I would check for water (or ice) in the oil or lower cavities. Check or change the filter. The Cases I've had were very cold weather sensitive.

Hoping for that type of reply. I won't touch it till it warms up. The trans press. gauge scared me. I can't see letting it warm up longer if pressure is in the red. Thanks

Is it real cold, and is there any water in the hydraulic oil? I had a 2390 that had to warm the hydraulic oil for quite some time before you could let your foot off the clutch or it would kill it. I'm talking about "real" cold here in AR (about freezing) not even real real cold -20 like some of the guys talk about.

Thank you for your help. I have taken C1 & C3 valves out and they are nice and free. The hydraulic filter light is on and the transmission pressure is in the red when the clutch pedal is slowly depressed. The trans pressure slowly goes into the green and when the clutch is fully depressed the engine dies. When in low box the engine runs level then in intermediate the reves drop. Then when put into high box the engine dies - this is without touching the clutch pedal. The temperature here in North England is also above freezing. Any further help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Only cheap suggestions I have is to check the "charge" pump as a failure there caused very erratic shifting in my 1370 one time. Also a 29 cent key sheared in the pump on the right side on my 1570 and it did all kinds of weird stuff. I'm just looking for spooks other than telling you the whole transmission has to come out.
