I am considering the purchase of a Case 801b Diesel Case o matic. Cosmetically, it is rough. It starts relatively easily at about 45 degrees. Lots of sludge on the outside of all moveable parts and engine. Hydraulics and PTO all work. Could anyone give me an idea of the value?

My 801B WF had been sitting for several years but I managed to get it started to try it out before buying. The fenders are barely hanging on by rust, grill and hood are ok. Tires about 25% left, pretty clean of leaks & seeps. It starts ok now but won't idle below 1/2 throttle. Very difficult to get in gear (Case-O-Matic). Some jerk cut off both lift arms just past the lift cylinder, and the castings that hold the bottom arms are busted off. Serial # 8140416. $400. Waiting to hear on an offer I made on a 401B, SFW, tar in the diesel tank, non-runner 4-5 years, just to get all the missing and broken Eagle Hitch parts. Another $400. The most important thing to remember when buying is that the tractor is complete with no missing parts. It's a lot of trouble to find them.

Thank you. That is very good info. This 801b seems to be in a little better shape than the ones you describe. Fenders are gone but everything else is there. Just a lot of seepage around every gasket, which of course need replaced. Lots of rust on sheet metal. Tires are maybe 50%. It has an old rear blade on it and the hydralulics lifted it OK.
