I just bought a Case 300 that the previous owner honestly said had grease leaks out of both axles at the ends of the rear end housings. He said that fluid from the hydraulics was probably leaking into the rear axle assembly. Has anyone experienced this and if so what seal needs to be replaced and what dis-assembly is needed. Thanks

A friend who helped me restore a Case 200 was very careful to clean out all breathers. According to him, a plugged breather can force oil past seals.

Allen, the underside of the ram in the eagle hitch is in direct communication with the transmission. Be a good idea to plug off hyd to the eagle, correct the fluid levels in the torque tube & transmission, work the tractor to see if there are any changes. Splitting to replace the drive shaft oil seal is kinda fun, but may not be the problem. Joe

Allen; It was common for them to leak hyd. oil from the torque tube into the transmission. It's a complicated fix. Probably the oil level in the transmission is overfull and leaking. But the leaking could also be an indication of loose rear axle bearings taking out the seals. I don't use hyd. fluid in the hyd. sump, I use 85w- 140 because of the chronic leaking problem. Works fine. John
