Hi Jeff, So much has happened while you've been away. I think I told you that around Christmas time three more Cases followed me home... and I really don't know how that happened. (grin) The '49 DC-3 project still sits untouched- but I've gotten quite a few parts and manuals for it now and they are stored up for when I get around to attacking it. Nothing's really happened on the '45 parts SC, except that I'm still burning the cylinders to try and see if I can salvage those aftermarket button top aluminum pistons. I found out that it's got a slotted hand crank hole, and it was cast that way from the factory. This is something that Don Livingston, Dave Erb, and Ed Axthelm hadn't ever seen before. Think I'm going to send a picture of it into Old Abe's News to see if they can solve the mystery. The "parts" '49SC tractor now has it's engine freed up, but one pesky valve still is being stubborn and stuck. I've got a spare magneto and carb all ready for it- so I may have this one running before too long. Bought some new gauges for my favorite '49SC, but I haven't installed them yet. Got a new steering wheel and steering column, too- so I can finally retire that Chevy steering wheel back to the van that it must have originally come from. To answer your question- I feel pretty confident in my mastery of the IH H4 magneto- but I haven't mastered the Case magnetos yet. Got a few of them to tinker when Paul fixes me up with some spare parts for them. With regards to your package- I'll let it be a surprise. I think you'll like it and find it useful, too. I was originally planning to send that 7" Guide light that I bought for you at the salvage auction- but I didn't know whether you needed it or not. There are photos of it in my photo album if you want to see it. (The mounting is not for a Case.) If you get a chance- check out my tractor photo galleries- there's lots of rusty junk to see (and a few SI photos, too.) As you can tell, I've become a DIGITAL packrat, as well! (grin) -Schotte
