I have chance to buy 2 930 diesels for $400.00. both 1966. "Good one" hase foot clutch. Parked becasue of trans clutch isses owner says. Needs rear and front tires (and front rims), no 3 point.

Parts 930, no 3 point, no pto, has cast front wheels. has been some minor parts removed. Niether has the case-0-matic. Looks like cans have been on exhaust, and coolant has been drained, or cracked and leeked out.

Opinions?

That sounds like a very good deal to me, I would have a hard time passing it up. Be aware though, that the 930s changed (in 1964 I believe) from the chain drive that was introduced on the L in 1929 to a gear final drive. The earlier 930 would be a 6 speed, the later models are 8 speed. Sounds from your description that those may be one of each and if so, one might not be a back up for the other for any parts in transmission or final drive. I have not worked on these tractors, so am not sure on details of parts interchangeability, but there is a major design difference.

Both these tractors have the 6 speed, trans. My 1030 has the 8 speed. They have the one where you bump the stick up and down left and right to get to the right gear. What can I look for to determine if they have the chain drive?

six speed 930 has slotted bolt holes in the rear axle housings where they bolt to the main rear housing. You loosen the bolts and slide the axles /housings to the rear to tighten the drive chains.

Better than the stock market for investment if you want to go into the parts business, and have a place to store them. No 3 point is a negitive. Is the tin work good?
