Am currently doing a head overhaul on my tractor that's serial numbers start with 52, doesn't that mean it's a 1948? The key for the cam sheared and I need to know where to find a replacement key?
What normally causes a key to shear?
Where is the best place to findv Case parts in Iowa?

Terry,

The key is a standard woodruff key , most

hardware store and machine shop suppliers will

have them . If the the keyway in the cam and the

one in the cam gear are not worn loose, replace

the key and assemble , if either is loose you

need parts or keyway repair. The usual cause is

cam shaft nut not tight enough .

Couldn't tell you why it would shear, but power of the internet and 800 numbers and such should make it easy to find. I live in MA and get all my parts from PA. Binkley Hurst or Hoober Inc should have the key, and that one should be easy to ship.

Answer to question #1: Yes.
You'll have to wait for somebody smarter than I be to answer the rest of them. Shouldn't be but a short wait.
