Hi I just got a 940lp.The hydroulic has type 3 dextron on the sticker. Can I change this to a straight weight oil.Like Hytrans or JD 30 in it without hurting it?What weight do I use for the tranny-rearend? I love this tractor already and haven't ran it much yet.It does have a some noise in the rearend..Think it is the chains. Can someone tell me how to tighten them some? Going to pull a 4 yd soil mover with it...Hope it will do ok.Any imput or advice? Also what kinda of fuel consuption can I expect? Thanks Jack

I have a 1966 930 six speed Diesel. It came with TCH oil in the main tran. I switched to 80-90 hypoid. and have put 6000 hrs on it since and have never changed the oil since and have never touched the tran. have 8500hrs now. One requirement to keep from having front bearing trouble is to put the tractor in netural and engage the clutch if you are going to sit idleing very long or doing PTO work. . If you don't the front bearing goes dry as it gets it's oil from relvoling gears. Chains rarley make noise even when a little loose. Usualy the front bearing or bearings on the first cross shaft make the noise as they could be getting pitted.

Jack, I am currently using Hy Tran Ultra in mine. I would use TCH if available, some say Case is bringing back the TCH, I'll have to check it out. Use the same oil in trans. as hydraulics. To tighten the chains, you need to remove the whole PTO/ hydraulic housing from the rear of the trans. housing, when you get that off you will see a large square head drawbolt on each side next to the bull sprockets, the axle housings have slots in them so you can loosen the nuts to adjust the chains with the square head bolt, if you move the drawbolt at all, you need to leave the head of it "square with the world" rather than partially turned because the PTO housing fits over the drawbolt heads to "lock" them from loosening. You will see what I mean if you get it all apart, it's not that big of job even though it may look like it. This way you can check the chains & the rest of the rear end what you can see while you're in there. As far as fuel, my son used mine 2 yrs ago disking corn stalks & I didn't think it was bad on fuel even though I didn't keep track of it. Mine has the Impco LP system on it rather than the original Ensign system. Any more info, don't hesitate to ask..... ..... Roger
