580CK backhoe question

I have a chance to purchase a 580CK gas with a model 33 extendahoe backhoe but it has two obvious problems:
1. The backhoe unit drifts down with the motor running. Is this easily fixable?
2. It will not go in reverse. The owner believes the reverse syncro is out. Again, I realize I have to split the tractor to get at the transmission but is the part easily fixable at that point and are parts available?
Other than the above, the unit looks good.
Thanks
Dave

I'd say the drift down is probably just the cylinder in bad shape. The transmission on the other hand could be a real expense . I dont remember there being any syncros in there and I could be wrong . Whats he asking ?
