I am having a problem getting the cap off the hydro filler. Is it threaded and needs to be turned off? It is on very tight. Also, what kind of fluid should I use? Thanks.

Mike; S Heiserman & Landon are correct on that cap coming off hard. Pry it up gently. A good Trans.- Hyd fluid is correct, but I add 85W-140 to it. I've had my 730 since '73 and never touched the drive train. 1/4 part 85W-140 to the fluid adds body to the thin fluid. You wouldn't do it to a power shift tractor. John

Hey S. Heiserman, It's ok for the transmission-final drive, but not in the convertor housing. Them gears would never stop draggin.

Thanks John. I was thinking trans, hyd, and converter were all common sump. I know after I put Hy-Tran in the tractor, it whined. Whining goes away when clutch is pushed in and I thought maybe your idea would help.

I'm not sure if the Comfort Kings used a common sump. I 'm sure the older ones didn't, but I could be wrong.

My cap comes off hard too. The fluid a CASEIH dealer will sell you for that is Hy-Tran Ultra.

i believe it has the same kind of cap as the 930 and 1030(they are not threaded and are vented on the under side)is it on the left hand side facing the rear end of the tractor? ours on our 1030s are hard to get off, we usually have to pry them off,i also changed the hydraulic fluid in one of our 1030s last year. i went to the case ih and bought the fluid they run in the new tractors and put that in it.
