My dad just got a 224 lawn tractor in need of repair. It is in good shape but needs rewired and repainted and what not. Was just curious as to what size engine it has and any other info that might be of interest to me. Thanks for sharing. Shane

If my memory serves me these are the mechanical drive tractors. the 4oo series were hydrostatic. It should have a 14 horse Kohler. Quite repairable, and parts readily available for the engine anyway.

210 was mechanical and NONE of the other 200-400-
600 series were hydrostatic they are ALL hydraulic drive. BIG difference.

The 224 is the small wheel version of the Case. A 444 hqad the 16" wheels. Ending in 4 means its a 14 horse single cylinder, most likely a KoehlerThey were made for quite a few years going through a couple of color changes. You might go over to the garden tractor board a get more help there. Don't have the address for the Case board right now but someone should be able to point you in the right direction
