In high range the tractor does not want to go unless it has been running for atleast half hour - low range has no problem.

The other problem I have is the clutch - (fliud type) seems to slip sometimes after it is engaged - that is, the tractor will react differently if the revs are the same buit the clutch is diengaged and then engaged again.

Only thing I could suggest would be change converter oil and filter and go from there.

Your tractor has a wet clutch pack driven by a torque converter that can be locked for direct drive operation by pulling a lever. My best guess is that the clutch pack is slipping a small amount which allows the tractor to operate in low range, but not in high range. changing your oil and filter might help, but if it has been slipping for very long, you will probably have to split the tractor and replace the clutch pack and determine why it was not locking up properly in the first place. I'm guessing this is getting posted too late to help you, but perhaps someone else can benefit from this follow up.
