How do these tractors compare in the field and on the tract? What is there to look out for on each model? I am a big case fan, but question the cost of looking for a 500. How hard is it to find parts for the 500?

I guess only 1 person on this board had a 500! Thanks for all the input

The 500's in our country(Wheat) they had a bad habit of breaking axle's. Actually they crystalized. In one year in the mid fiftys our dealer replaced 60 axles on 500's and this condition carried through the 930's. I seen these axles all lined up in a warehouse and they all looked alike, smooth and curved execpt for the last half inch that broke. They started at the base of the keyway. He even made a fake axle ( it clamped to the axle housing and had a truck tire on it , you locked the brake on that axle and you could drive it) to mount to drive the tractor onto the truck to take to town. So many owners replaced one axle and within a few hours(one owner 8hrs) later the other broke, that the dealer recommened that if one broke to replace both at the same time. BREAKING AXLES IS A REAL WEAKNESS OF 500, 600, 900, AND SIX SPEED 930'S.
