I have a friend needing a MCK 4007 Autolite starter for a 1958 Case 800. His has the brushholders broken . Haven't had any success locally finding one, after trying several parts and generator/starter places. Said they are obsolete. Could use any help or suggestions for substitute, maybe ? Thanks.

I don't know if it helps. My 61 730 has a delco. I was able to get the local JD dealer (35miles closer than CaseIH dealer) to pull up parts screen for starters and we were able to cross reference buy comparing parts on the shelf (some dealers may not be so friendly??) as many starters for many tractors were made by the same people just different mounts ect. If you have no luck with that.. there is a place in Elkhart Indiana called... Elkhart starter and alternator 574-293-2196 they can MOST likely help you out either parts or rebuilding yours. Have your main Part #'s handy. Good luck

Thanks loads. I think I'll have Mike bring me the starter and tear it down myself. He said the commuters (spelling?) were broken off but I can't understand how they got broken. Once I get it apart and get some numbers, maybe Elkhart can help us out. Appreciate your response.
Rick
