We went to Batteries Plus and got two 1150 CCA 12 volts and hooked them up in parallel. They are about 75.00 each and really turn that 930 over well. You can also field weld with the cables in a pinch! (just kidding)

I have a 930 and 970. Start them year round with one 12 volt. Start MUCH better than the 2 6s. Get the biggest 12 v you can find. Good Luck

Shane; That 930 originally had 2 6V batt's hooked in series. A much better arrangement is 2 12V batt's hooked in parallel. Group 31 batteries at 1000 CCA @ 0 degrees F. will do a nice job of spinning that 401. Battery cables are also important. They should be 2/0 guage to deliver all that amperage. Hope this helps.

The biggest that will fit into the battery box. I am told that there is a difference in batteries made for diesels, if you can find them at a battery only store. I had no great problems with my 930 starting though.

Did you keep the original 6 volt batteries in series or did you go to a single 1000 cca 12volt battery?

You know, I realy don't remember one or two. If my CK had two 6 volts, then that is what I ran. I bought it new in 68 and traded it in on a 1200 in 72. Was a fine tractor. A little faster spin from the batteries makes a lot of difference in starting a diesel. You might try any good 12 volt car battery if you all ready have one...just to see how it goes. Its been a long time and I wonder if the box (one box) is big enough for a large 12 volt.
