Later DCs had live PTO. If your PTO lever is up near teh steering column it is not live PTO. Live PTO lever is back by the seat and the actuator rod goes to the left side of the PTO housing near the back.

There are some good articles in the Article Archives on this web site on unsticking engines. One guy uses one part trans. fluid, one part kerosene and one part Marvel Mystery oil. Unhook the rods so that they are free to move and won't damage the crank. Be patient and let it soak.

My comment about damaging the crank only applies if you have the head off and are hammering on the pistons. If the head is still on the tractor, you want to make sure that all the valves are free before rotating the engine so that you don't bend the push rods. If the valves are stuck, remove the rocker arm assembly before trying to turn the engine.

How long has the engine been stuck? Is the engine still assembled on the tractor? I have had success with diesel fuel in the cylinders, and putting a little pressure through the hand crank. I'm sure others will give you a lot of different suggestions.
