The part # for the 1/4" thick cork gasket for an SC starter is O5039AB. (First letter is an "O", not zero.) Got a couple from my C-IH dealer last fall, he had to get them from the Mpls parts depot. Put one in over the weekend & have the bag laying in front of me. It fits just right!

Didn't follow my own advice-forgot to drain the clutch housing on my '54 SC when I changed the oil on Sunday. Remembered that I forgot it when I was changing the gasket on the starter, AFTER the new oil was added. Oh well, gonna have to do it over in a couple of weeks, I guess.

Just to show that we're not color blind, we got #1 son's F-12 Farmall so it'll start on the first pull of the crank (most ot the time) when its cold. Still haven't figured out how to get it to start when its hot. It seems like you can crank on it until HFO, or it cools off, whichever comes first, but it'll start within 20' w/another tractor & chain starter. Any ideas that you've used to get hot engines to start w/crank? (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

My guess is that the reason the Farmall F-12 won't start when hot is that it suffers from low compression. Can you check the compression hot versus cold? My next guess would be the magneto may be weaker when hot.

SC starter gasket part # is: O5039AB. This is a current (as of last fall) C-IH number. Hope it helps! (Another $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

That's the part number I have in my parts manual... except that's a zero and not an O:

#05039AB- gasket, starting motor

I'm very glad to hear that Case-IH is keeping the old numbering system!
