hello all i need some help. My uncle has a Case SC. At least that is what it looks like from looking at pictures. What decieves me about it, is that it has the letter S decal on the nose? I assumed it would have an SC decal. I don't know anything about them though so maybe its me. Anyway it has 4 forward gears and reverse, hand clutch, PTO, Hydrolics, and NF. has a long arm on the left side of tractor (when facing from drivers seat) that is from the steering box. Does this sound like an SC? If you all need a picture I could possibly post one somehow maybe but i'm thinking its an SC. Was there any dead give-away?

Secondly. and most importantly I had it out with my cousin over the weekend and it started and worked just fine. had it out idling for awhile warming up (hadn't been run since fall) and all of a sudden it started missing and oil started coming out of the 2nd cylinder exhaust port. Trouble! My Uncle did mention last year he thought the rings were going. I'd have to say they are gone. Least one cylinder worth. I was looking in the ON-Line store here at YTMAG and couldn't find an SC rebuild kit. So i'm looking to get a price on one! If anyone knows where to buy one let me know please.

Summary!

1. Is this a case SC?
2. Where to get a rebuild kit?

Thanks for ALL your help and input.

Guys, Thanks for the info and location of the serial #. I will try to check it out this weekend. From the pictures you guys posted though I would think its definatly an SC. I guess someone just screwed up the decals and put an S on it.

Jerry: I will check the pushrods. There was ALOT of oil coming out though. We can hope thats all it is!

I will post some pictures of it and maybe that'll solve out issues.

I don't have $900 to put into this tractor. At least not now. I would like to get it running again though. I will post more info and questions again soon. Thank you for all the help for now.

Before you get all nervous, check the pushrods on the oily cylinder. I have had them jump out and the motor misses and if the exhaust valve is held open you will have some oil.

There is a serial NO. where the engine connects to the rear end, right on the ridge on the left side of the tractor if you were sitting on it, it should say SC and then some numbers after that. But Mike is right any way, if it is a NF then it is an SC.

Is there a serial number plate on the dash? If so, are the last 2 letters SC? You can't buy a complete rebuild "kit" for this tractor. You can buy parts separately to rebuild it, though. You will first have to tear it apart and determine what size pistons are in it before you buy the rings. How much are you willing to spend? Rings are probably $80, gasket set $100, reconditioned main bearings $200, rod bearings $200, a complete piston and sleeve set with rings $900.
