I have a chance to buy a 1980 580B for $3500. It runs and looks very clean. Owner says it has a engine knock that developed after he rebuilt the injector pump. He had another guy redo his work and the knock got better but its still there.
I have seen alot of 580B's in my area for 7 to 10K
So even if I have to do major engine work is it worth it?

Question#1
Case get $331.00 for full shop manual. Are there any other options to get a manual.

Question#2
how much does it weight? not (4WD) (not exhoe).
188 diesel engine.

Any input would be great.

Tim, as long as its not hydrostatic drive, sounds good to me. The 580Bs were built from 1971-75 or 76, depending on which serial number book you believe. It'll weigh close to 6 tons.

Thanks for the post Dale

I talked to a guy at the factory today. He said it was a 74'

It is a shuttle shift.

Another guy at the dealer said a knock that showed up on start up could be a bent push rod cause by using ether.

I am going to buy it this weekend..
