My dad has just acquired a cast iron eagle. It measures 18" high and weighs about 40 pounds. It has a 1 1/4x 3" long shaft on the bottom of it. The globe is about 6" in diameter and has "J I Case, Threshing Machine Co., Racine Wis USA embossed on it on both sides. Could anyone tell me what this went on or if you know anything about this cast iron eagle. These measurements are aproximate. If you would like pictures emailed to you I will gladly send them. Thanks for your time.

They were fencepost tops at some of the Racine Wisconsin facilities and possibly at Case tractor dealerships. Please let me know if you 're interested in selling it

The heritage eagle previewed this some time ago, if I am correct and I am going from memory they were to sit on the gate or post end. when I get home I can look in the back issues and let you know

Here are some of the pictures that Ron sent me of his cast iron J.I.C. eagle. If you want to see all 5 of the photos- go to the link to my Old Abe gallery (listed below.)

I've seen pictures of CASE cast iron dealer eagles in various sizes- but I didn't think that I'd seen one in this size and shape before:

RON'S EAGLE:

But then I remembered that there's a picture of one just like it alongside the BIG eagle statue in Herb Wessel's collection-

HERB'S EAGLE:

I can't tell you what the value might be- but at least you might can see what it used to look like (if that is actually the original paint job.)

18" high and 40lbs means it's definitely too big to have been mounted to a steam engine or piece of equipment. I'm guessing it was definitely for a dealership or part of a sign.

You can date it approximately due to the fact that it's got the earlier J.I.C.T.M.C. logo.

I have a iron eagle approx. 60" 300lbs. Believe it to be a CASE however my grandfather was also in the equipment bus. and had painted his name over it. My question is were the letters raised because we think we can feel the C. Also do you know a value on it or how I can find out. Thank you
