Picked this up yesturday. The man bought it in Pa. he said it was Amish wheels. It still has the cast hubs, but has spokes welded to them. Who ever done it spent a lot of time doing it. The rear wheels have extentions and the way the cleats are welded on it runs fine on the road. There are more pictures at the link. Anyone ever seen ones like this???

You should see a 1206 coming down the side of the road on steel wheels. And when it's pulling 2 hopper beds on steel wheeled running gears its incredibly loud. Saw it near Richmond Indiana last fall.

i remember seeing a John Deere B @ the Georgian Bay Steam Show that some guy modified. it came w/ "tip toe" rear steel and rubber tires on the front. he took the tires off the rims and welded the rims solid with an angle iron rib up the centre. it didnt make much sense to me. because they looked REALLY heavy the way they were done.

the ones on your LA look pretty unique. the rears look like theyre from a small steam engine.

Keep 'em on! maybe youll get an advantage in a pull!
