Ok I hope that those of you who know more about these motors can clear up a rumor that I've heard. Apparently in the early 70's if you blew a hole in the side of a 401 block and ordered a complete new motor from case it was possible that you might get a 451 motor, like in the 70 series tractors. The would bolt up ok, but you would need to make a hole in the front left flange of the motor for the steering linkage. Now, is this just a pipe dream or is there some truth in this rumor?? And if so does that make the 451 a "stock" motor when pulling it???

If you measure them you will find that the 1030 block is a longer block. They are not the same block.
