Machine reliability?
Parts availibilty?
Have not seen it yet but owner says it in good shape. Has not been contracted, private use. Rates under carrige at 80% sterring 100% and drive gears are still in good shape. He says track in good shape, pins have never been change, some a little loose. Let me know what you CASE TECH'S THINK?

Just purchased 1000c dozer. Transmission doesn't engage correctly. Takes 5 to 10 min to move when does goes 20ft and stops. all fluids full. What do I need to check? Anybody have a service manual or operators manual.
Thanks ryan

Dave , Blade should be 10 ft . I have several 1000's,a loader that I've had for 35 years , a dozer for 30 years and one more of each to fix up. As case power says engine parts are a problem, bearings can be made out of other engine bearings, gaskets are going to be a serious problem as felpro has quit making them and they were the only supplier .The rest of the tractor is nearly industructable . Also oil pumps are not to be had, but with serious modifications a chevy 6.2 pump will make more oil pressure than it had when new . 1965 was the last production year , any tractor after serial # 7101201 (1000C)is a good tractor and after 7103001 is a 1000D Email if you need more info .

A 1000 is a very good machine. The 100hp is flywheel horsepower and not drawbar hp. The transmissions in my opinion are bullet proof. The terramatic drive was long before its time. They made the 1000 in late 50s and early 60s, but they are comparable to a 1980s or 1990s model other brand machine. They will work circles around the machines of there time. The only drawback is the engine. It has a JD382 continental and parts are few and far between. The military used a JD403 that will fit right in it and are much easier to find. The rod and main bearings are all but impossible to get. All of the under carraige parts are still avalible. A full set of bottom rollers will run you $1700 sprockets are $450 each. pins and bushings are $1500 installed. I have owned and operated just about all of the old brands and none of them can compare to a Case in the 50s and 60s. They started catching up in the 70s, but never got any better then case they just made some almost as good. If the brakes don't work on it like most of them don't even worry about it you don't need them. I even back filled around new houses and could drive within 3 or 4 inches without any problem and never hit a house.

I sold mine for $4000 with a bad under carraige. I seen one with a bad engine sell for $1000 and one with a bad under carraige for $2000. Mine was a loader and the others were loaders. I haven't seen any dozers sell so I am not sure about the price. They were only built from 1957 to 1962 when they were replaced with the 1150. They are so far ahead of there time it is easy to mistake them for newer models.
