I have been working on a Case D for awhile, and I basically did an inframe overhaul on it. But now I have no oil prssure. I have tried 2 new gauges. I have found that inside the oil pump is full of real thick gunk. I have taken the large nut that houses the spring and bypass valve off. (I hope that is the right name for it.) The spring came out without any problems. But the bypass valve seems to be rusted in there. It has been soaking in diesel, but still won't come out. My question is, can the oil pump be taken out and thoroughly cleaned without having to drop the oil pan? Any ideas or comments are appreciated.

have you tried to fit it through the side inspection plates on the oil pan, if the piston would fit I'd think the oil pump would.

I'm sure it would fit thru the inspection hole, but, the problem I'm having is trying to get to the rearward bolt that holds it in place. I was wondering if there was a way to get to the rear bolt without taking down the pan. Thanks
