Well i posted about this a few months ago. Finally had a chance to tear it down to see what it was. Its bad to say the least. piston 3 and 4 have the sleeves cracked at the tops. Plus all the rest look low below the deck. Talked to the machins shop and got some ways to fix it. One is to redo counter bores then redeck the top. Or if counter bores and cracked cheaper to bore out a spare 930(401) block to take the 1030 sleeves. Been a bad week.

Hi Bob. Sorry you are having a bad time. I rebuilt my 1030's engine last fall because of the same problem. This is a common problem for 1030 Cases. I had to send my block to mthe machine shop because of carbon build up under the lip of the sleeves. Deck clearence ic only .oo3 to .005 of an inch. You should have no chuck in the sleeves upon assembly. I have a 830CK with 12500hrs on it and a 930ck with 6500hrs on it and this 1030 I bought that i knew needed work. It has almost 8500hrs. Good luck and don't give up on those old Case tractors

Are you trying to determine what caused the problem? Don't want it to happen again?
