After shopping for an 1175 to turn into a hot farm puller I realize that they are a bit more expensive than I had originally expected, which got me thinking about the 1030's. Other than the planitaries in the wheels of the 1175 is there any real advantage to it over the 1030? Local club rules are 4000 rpm max, 466 max cid, 3 in 3 out turbo, single port water injection 10,000 lbs. Will a 451 bolt into a 1030 tranny if not how many modifications would there need to be?

Thanks

As much fun as it would be to do that tool man, if the "good ole boys" ( red and green ones) even suspected that I was over cubed they would pump the cylinder in blink of an eye, count the injectors on their fingers and toes and would figure out I was a little big. Local class you can't be over 466. But it sure would be fun!!!!! !

I have read that the 1030s had transmission problems. The book said that the tranny had been strecthed beyond the HP it could stand with the 451 motor.

The block will fit up to the clutch with no problem but the front of the engine is a different story. Unless you use an early 451B (maybe out of a 1070) there is no hole in the block for the steering shaft on the left side. The 70 series did not have a mounting for the power steering pump. There are several other minor differences but putting a 70 series engine in a 30 series tractor has been done many times. Good luck.

the 451 should bolt right in since the 1030 already has a 451.
