I just got in a case 930 and can't get it started. Before i begain checking the fuel delivery i was wandering if it may have a kill switch on it that is keeping it from cranking.

There is a neutral starting switch located on the right side of the tractor under your foot pedestal, just behind the gear shift boot. The nut must be loosened and the switch screwed in or out, im not sure but this will keep the tractor from turning over. I have the procedure at home, let me know

Story I just wanna share,Dad bought a 830 case-o-matic where the netral switch almost like a simple knife switch failed. The gentleman,an auctioneer bought the tractor and could not get it started,Tried pull starting a Case-o-matic but would not turn over.Dad bought it for $850,took a screw driver, shorted the starter(a bad thing todo)drove it on the trailer and took it home.He has used it on the hay condioner and round baler,1500 bales every year for about the last ten years or so.(Replaced switch)

Tried it in neutral with the clutch out. The engine turns over but does not try to start at all, as if a kill switch was on or not getting any fuel.

If it is like the 930 we had... There is a little lever for High range, S and low Range.... It needs to be on the Middle position... "S" or it would not start..... If I remember right Up was High range and Down was Low range and S was in the middle.....

Gary, assuming all the previous fixes didn't work I would try this; make sure that the injectors are getting fuel; unloosen EACH hi-pressure line (at the injection pump) ONE at a time, then crank
then engine and see if fuel comes out of the line. Of course, make sure the tractor is OUT OF GEAR FIRST (whether its a standard gear shift or Power director). If the engine won't crank over, hook up a booster battery charger (or jumper using a truck or other hi-capacity battery), reason for this is that you may have a shorted bendix on the starter that makes it appear as if the battery isn't putting out full power. Many of these old diesels need to crank FULL SPEED in order to start; another thing to check is that you
have some fresh, CLEAN diesel fuel in the tank...
Diesel fuel will get "stale" just like gasoline,
although it can set up much longer. Back to the battery; assumming you have a fully-charged battery; MAKE SURE the tracor is out of gear, set the brakes, and if the tractor won't
crank with the switch, tale a LONG screwdriver
and JUMP across the bendix solenoid and the battery post where the battery cable connects to the battery. If this tractor is getting fuel and
is cranking nicely, there's NO good reason why it won't start.
