I am desperately wanting to talk to any parties aware of the location of any Model 1's or restorers that have worked on this portable steam engine. I would like to know where to look for information on these engines and if any literature is available from the antique steam engine community. I would also pay top dollar for a complete collection of the "Iron-Man Album" or Case Magazines or literature.

Hi
The person to talk to about Model 1's is Herb Wessel and his son, they are the two who restored the first case portable steam engine for the Smithsonian Institute. As for getting case magazines, there are 2 clubs you can join to get case magazines: JICCA which makes the Old Abe News and the International J. I. Case Heritage Foundation which makes the magazine: Heritage Eagle. If you get those magazines, in the classifieds in the back, there are usually 1 or 2 people selling collections of case magazines.
Thanks
Doug

Dear Doug, Thank You so much for the response to my initial posting. Please let me know if you have any information on how I can contact Mr. Herb Wessel and his son. They would be an invaluable source of information on this topic. Sincerely, Bill Humfreville

Another good book that covers the beginning era of Case is "FULL STEAM AHEAD" by David Erb and Eldon Brumbough. David is also the editor of the "Old Abe's News" the magazine of the JICCA. Had some very good writeups on the Medina explosion severl issues ago.
