YES but if your putting a gas or LP head on make sure you don't have high altitude pistons.

what's wrong with high altitude pistons. they just stick up beyond the block a little. they just give a little more high end power and a little less low end torque but also better fuel economy. we have run case d's over 50 years. there are lots of different performing engines you can get by different combinations of bore and heads. this is very easy to remember people who want to listen, a c engine is a d engine with a less compression head. a L engine is a LA engine with a less compression head. they are the same engines in each series. d and c engines are the same, as are many other parts of the tractors. the funny part is, you could take a la engine and slap on a 3 speed l tranny. or you could take a late LA tranny and put on a 500 engine, or you could take a 500 tranny and put it on a 600. cause they are all the same. a 500 and 600 have the same engines. i knew a guy who had the privilidge of growing up on a 6 cyl diesel 6 speed 600. he finally bought it from the original owners but left it uncovered for the rain to come in the block and froze and cracked it. there the beautiful straight tractor sits because he does not believe a 500 block is a legitimate swap. but there are the same. sad to see a beautiful, rare, limited production tractor pointlessly sit in the weeds.
oh well, another one bites the dust

What I was saying is if you run high altitude pistons and a gas or LP head the pistons will hit the head unless you cut .040 off the pistons. There is nothing wrong with them. Also the c block is not electric start nor does it have oil to the rockers. You can bolt a D engine in a C if you add the hump for the starter. The DC engines were also increased in bore during the last years.
