Hi All,
Do any of you have experience using Biodiesel in a Case 580 loader backhoe? I have a Phase I 580K and would like to use straight Biodiesel. However, I have little experience with it and have heard that the extra solvency of Biodiesel may attack natural rubber components and some plastics. Therefore, these parts need to be changed out before going above 20% Biodiesel.

Thanks for your thoughts,
John

Hi Terrance and JimmyG, Thanks for the suggestions. I have signed up for a few mailing lists about Biodiesel and have been doing some other research. I posted here to get a viewpoint from the other end of the question, from people that know a great deal about tractors and may know something about Biodiesel.

Thanks again,
John

Yes those things are true. Be carefull of biodiesel. It is a new product that needs some tweeking to improve it. Also if you get cold, god help you keeping that flowing. the cloud point and cold filter plugging point are much higher than standard diesel fuel. just go to yahoo and search for Biodiesel, you can find all you need to know and should know before putting in your machines. The school district where I live went to it and lost significant mileage and all of the bus drivers complain of less power.

very surprised to ready JimmyG posting. i have not run biodiesel in any tractory yet but i and several others locally run diesel vw. old rabbits and vanagans. we like it because it has a COLDER plugging point than normal diesel. people use it when they go camping so they don't get stuck up their in the woods. engines do not carbon up as bad on biodiesel. vw uses many plastic fuel lines and plastic and rubber fittings and i have never heard of any trouble in that area. but do your research. caseboy
