I was looking at this pic and noticed that this 1070 has something I have never seen on a 1070 before, can you spot what it is?

They used those side rails on the 1090's. A friend had the only 1090 in this part of the country, and he had it on his. And dad's 970 and my 1070 both have 34 inch rear tires.

hmmm...

im not an expert in late model case tractors but the rear tires look small compared to the height of the fenders.

Yeah, these tractor's were offered with the 18.4-34 rears, kinda small but I have seen several with them.

The third step is a custom add on, we have them on all of our tractors, even at 23 it is nice to have that last step.

I'll guess the steel running along the block. Ours has it too, but we put it there.

Ding ding ding ding! That is it, never seen one on a 1070, just on the 1270 and larger tractors. Why did you put it on, did you use a loader on the tractor or was it for another reason? I woould assume it was used for the extra weight and rotational torque the larger tractors put out and helped keep the block from twisting itself in two. Good eye bye the way.

I don't think I've ever seen a 1070 without the frame rails, especially with that style weight bracket.

All the weight brackets bolt to the front end, two or ours have that style and one has the rectangular style and none have the frame rails. I think maybe they were added for a loader or saddle tanks as someone else posted.

I don't know about an actual Case loader, but with an Allied you remove those rails, got one on an 1170.

So the 1170 had frame rails from the factory? Is that tractor a turbo charged engine, I am thinkin maybe the turboed tractors came with the rails to stiffen up the engine block.

Ya its turboed,if the 1070's had optional rails the local dealer must have ordered it on them all, like I said I've never seen a 10 with out them.1170's I've seen all had them too.

It's been awhile since I put them on, but I believe they came off the 1370 and they were used for saddle tanks on that. He was going to try to put a JD 148 loader on it, but 1070 is just a shade too wide. Ended up mounting the toolbox there. What did I win?

I'll give you $5 but you must pick it up within 2 weeks! North Liberty, IN is the location. Otherwise you will just have to settle for the gratification of being the first with the correct answer. Shane
